Facebook Fundraisers

Want to honor or pay memoriam to a loved one affected by addiction?

Do you have a birthday coming up? Celebrating a milestone in your life?

Whatever the cause or reason, Facebook fundraisers are a simple way

to raise funds to support The BeatHeart Foundation’s mission.

Facebook makes raising funds easy, fun, and secure: Donors can enter their payment information securely and easily in just a few clicks without leaving Facebook and fundraiser creators can set donation goals and track their progress. Facebook charges no fees for donations to nonprofits. All donations will go directly to The BeatHeart Foundation. Donations made on Facebook to The BeatHeart Foundation are tax deductible. After you make a donation, a confirmation will be sent to the primary email listed on your Facebook account. This confirmation shows that you've made this donation as a charitable contribution and that you're not receiving any goods or services in return.

To create a Facebook fundraiser for The BeatHeart Foundation click here or follow these steps:

Step 4: Set Up Your Fundraiser Page

Determine your personal fundraising goal as well as an end date for your fundraiser (for example, you could create a fundraiser for your birthday week or for your entire birthday month). Give your fundraiser a title and use your summary to explain why you think your Facebook friends should donate to The BeatHeart Foundation.  Be creative! Share how The BeatHeart Foundation matters to you, how The BeatHeart Foundation has made an impact in your life, or dedicate your fundraiser to a loved one affected by addiction.

Next you will need to choose a cover image (feel free to use our cover image of our logo!). On the cover image selection page, you will see photo options from The BeatHeart Foundation’s Facebook album under “More Suggestions.” To upload a photo of your own, click “Edit” in the right corner of the default cover photo, select “Upload New Photo,” and choose a photo from your files.

Once you’ve picked out a cover image, click “Create” to complete and publish your fundraiser for everyone to see!

Step 5: Spread the Word!

Click “Get Started” to invite your friends and share your fundraiser on your timeline. Inviting all of your friends to participate in your fundraiser will maximize your outreach.  Sharing your excitement and passion will encourage people to join your cause as well.

Important Notes about Facebook Fundraisers:

Fundraisers can only be created by Facebook users who are 18 years of age or older. Facebook fundraising features are not available in all countries. People in the countries listed on this page are able to use donation and fundraising features on Facebook.

Donations made through Facebook to The BeatHeart Foundation are tax deductible, though tax laws vary by state and by country.

When someone makes a donation on Facebook to a charitable organization, a payment receipt is sent to the primary email listed on their Facebook account. This payment receipt includes the organization’s name, logo, mission statement and EIN. It also confirms that the person has made a donation as a charitable contribution and that they’re not receiving any goods or services in return.

Donations made on Facebook to charitable organizations using the Facebook payments platform aren't currently charged fees. For personal fundraisers, fundraiser creators are charged payment processing fees and, in some countries, additional taxes when the money raised is distributed. Learn more about Facebook donation fees here.

Your donation to a charitable organization on Facebook will only be seen by your friends if you choose to share it. Keep in mind that the amount of your donation won't be shared.

When you donate to a fundraiser, the charitable organization and creator of the fundraiser will be able to see your donation even if you don't share it.
