Spring Coffeehouse: Friday, March 23rd, 2018

We held our first “Let It Out” Coffeehouse: Featured Performers Open Mic & Jam Session on Friday, March 23rd, 2018 at the American Legion in Reading, MA.  This event blew our expectations out the water, and we had almost one hundred attendees.  The night featured an open mic as well as several “featured performers,” including a  dance company and local musicians.  Two middle school students kicked things off for the night, setting the bar incredibly high, and was rounded out by an unbelievably talented group of high school seniors.  Our focus for this event was on getting this important demographic involved, and we did so by reaching out to students on a few separate visits to the high school.  The results did not disappoint.  We were happy to provide a platform for so many young musicians and artists to showcase their talents and creativity at a positive, sober event.  In addition to free food and refreshments, we also had a full table of mental health and addiction resources for people to take home with them if they wished, along with hands-on Narcan training.

Jams for Jake: Sunday, November 12th, 2017

On Sunday, November 12th, 2017 we held a special event in memory of our friend Jake Czuczwa.  Jams for Jake was an all-day music festival/community gathering to honor the memory of Jake, and to raise resources and awareness in the fight against the opioid epidemic.  It was free, family-friendly, and open to the public.  Jams for Jake was a great day of fun, music, reflection, and community that Jake would have loved.  Our hope is to annually use this event as a way to create something positive to honor Jake's life and to create a space for open and honest reflection on the effects of this crisis in our lives and our communities.
